Step 2: Choose Your Hospital

Chinese hospitals fall into three categories. Public Hospital International Medical Departments/Clinics: the top choice for complex conditions, usually offering multilingual services. High-end Private or Foreign-Funded Hospitals: international service standards, easy appointments, smooth communication, but higher prices. Community Health Service Centers: great for minor illnesses and routine medications β€” you can complete the entire process with just your passport.

Step 3: Make an Appointment

Most hospitals support appointments 1-14 days in advance through official apps or WeChat public accounts. During registration, select "Passport" or "Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card" as your ID type. Some hospitals have self-service machines where you can book directly, with volunteers available to help.

Step 4: The Treatment Process

Seeing a doctor in China takes just five steps: Registration β†’ Consultation β†’ Payment β†’ Tests/Examinations β†’ Collect Medication. Note that Chinese hospitals operate on a "pay first, then get tested/medication" model. Outpatient departments are highly specialized β€” know which department you need before you go.

Step 5: Payment
